"He who has ears"

Nov 19, 2015 08:12 PM EST

Matthew 13:43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Today's message tells us how precious the word of the Lord is. The secret of the Heaven is not that anybody can acknowledge or understand. Therefore, Jesus delivered His teaching about the Kingdom of God as precious so that the people can receive it preciously. It is that He gives the precious blessing who knows its value and meaning. What is "fall"? This is not to know grace and sacrifice and then lose gratitude.

Just like how the 'parable of the sower' says, the field-with what kind of heart we receive the truth- is very important. So it is not that anybody can understand the deep world of the Gospel though they receive the same word. This is like the tree cannot deliver the electricity. Likewise, love can be understood only by heart. If not, we cannot hear though we have ears.

John 9:40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, "What? Are we blind too?"

9:41 Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

Here, Jesus said "you guys are blind". But the problem was that they couldn't accept this fact that they had this spiritual disease. When we have this arrogance like "I already know", we cannot listen anymore. Our spiritual eyes will be covered just like the Pharisees, and the deep truth will be hidden. Even though it is the word that we already have listened, we should have the first heart that we had at the beginning.

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

11:26 Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

There is the way we can know God. This is revelation. We can know Him when He opens Himself. If we convict Jesus as our Christ, then this that there is God who allowed us to know that.

16:17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

The people who could meet Jesus and experience the great change of life were the humble ones such as the tax collectors, sinners, and Samaritans. They didn't have their own righteousness or knowledge. Then their thirst, eager heart could see there is the Salvation in Jesus, and could repent. And then their whole life was changed. Let us have this spiritual humbleness so that we can meet God's face of love and mercy closely.
