"in order that we be for the praise of his glory"

Dec 30, 2015 03:55 AM EST

Ephesus 1:5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--

1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

1:8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

1:9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,

1:10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

1:12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

This is the letter from Apostle Paul for Ephesus Church. In Acts, Paul had pastored Ephesus Church for 3 years and raised them wholeheartedly. Now here, he is emphasizing one thing to them. This is that God predestined us "in accordance with his pleasure and will".

1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

It says even "before the creation of the world". Before the creation, already God predestined us and choose us. Even though there is a varied happening in our lives, we need to remember God who leads and concludes the life. This is the basic foundation of faith.

1:5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--

1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

We should hold on this message, "which he has freely given us". It is not that we received by certain condition or deeds. We came to call God "Abba Father" without any charge, because of the sacrifice of Jesus which is the grace for us. We should not forget we are living day by day in abundance of the grace. Why does God still pour His mercy upon such a sinful human being? The Bible tells us that this is what God wants.

1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

1:12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

"For he chose us in him before the creation of the world", even before we exist, God hoped us to become the praise of His glory. All we are under this eternal plan of God. Let us meditate on His will and plan for us, and gain a victory every day.
