John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
The one, who knows the love of the Lord and dwells in His love, must "Love each other". Even though we are close to our brothers, is there any barrier in the relationship? In the world, many people feel the great pain from the broken relationship. We eagerly hope the world where everyone can be one under the true love.
What is love showed by Jesus? What is love we should reveal? This is "love throwing away his life for his friends". The Lord went through the way of the 'cross' giving out even His life for us. He called the sinners 'friends', emptied His whole life, lowered Himself, and served us until the last moment of his life. We cannot live twice. Still the Lord poured out His life which is only one for us; this is the greatest love.
Love is the 'sacrifice'. Sacrifice is giving out possession I have and empty myself. It is giving out the most valuable thing among my possession, even my life. Just as the beautiful dancing of a ballerina based on her ugly, wrecked foot, just as the children are grown by the furrow of their mother, 'life' is born by sacrifice.
Sacrifice brings joy. We can taste the true happiness in the place of toil and suffering. That is because we were created to love. When we see the existence of human which was made through His image, we can find the love that God. We do not exist for ourselves. We can find the meaning of existence in the relationship.
What is the relationship between God and us? The Lord called us 'friends'. The Lord who is the highest, worthy to receive worship and praise, called us friends. We became His friends from the servant who has lawful due and burden.
This world of love could be opened through the cross of suffering, the Lord's precious blood. He gathered us and restored the broken relationships by the redemption. We may open the beautiful world of love following Jesus' steps.
