"He who has ears"

Oct 02, 2016 02:40 AM EDT

John 9:39 Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind."
9:40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, "What? Are we blind too?"
9:41 Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

The passage shows us how precious the word of Jesus is. The secret of Heaven is not the thing anyone can know or hear. Jesus taught us that because we should receive treasure preciously knowing its value. Therefore, the Gospel of Jesus requests us to have that standard in order to receive such a precious blessing. Fall of man is that human did not preciously receive precious thing. Human did not receive grace as grace, sacrifice as sacrifice. We lost gratitude and grace of God.

Just as the parable of the sower tells, the field of heart is so important. Everything depends on your mindset to receive. So it is not that every word of God can be delivered to anyone who is taught. The love can be known only through the heart, just like the tree cannot deliver electricity. We should receive the word of truth in the way how the Israelites eat the Passover lamb; with their cloak tucked into their belt, their sandals on their feet and their staff in their hand; eat it in haste. This means immediate practice and spiritual tension. If we do not have this mindset when we listen to the word of God, it is better not to listen.

John 9:40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, "What? Are we blind too?"
9:41 Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

Here, the problem is that they did not consider themselves as blind though Jesus said they were blind. If we think 'I know the word already. I have studied it before', then the word will be hidden because of spiritual arrogance.

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
11:26 Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

The only way we can know God is only when God reveals Himself to us. This is the revelation.

Matthew 16:17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

If we confess Jesus is Christ that is because God allowed us know the fact. The tax collectors, the sinners, the Samaritans, and the prostitutes acknowledged the Christ and changed. They had humble heart. They were so thirsty for the new righteousness because they knew they were not righteous. They repented before the true love, and their lives greatly changed. We should meet Jesus deeply just like them.
